Your one-stop-shop for all things orthopedic surgery

Getting Started

There are so many resources available to help you navigate the field of orthopedic surgery, but we understand that they can be overwhelming. The purpose of this initiative is to create a step-by-step guide based on year in medical school to help you navigate the many resources aimed at making you a competitive applicant.

First, if you are still considering orthopedic surgery, check out this great article from the Nailed It team discussing the pros and cons of choosing orthopedic surgery:

Now, let’s get started! We have split our guide into preclinical years, third year, and fourth year. Each section can found below. We recommend you follow the guide based on where you are in medical school and look ahead to the next year to help you prepare. As research is done throughout medical school, we discuss research in each year’s guide. There are also various blog posts written by the MSOS student/resident team linked in each post. Additionally, check out our resource center that provides links to access all resources we discuss in this guide. Lastly, this guide is constantly updating. If you have any ideas on ways to improve this guide or are interested in writing a blog post. Please email us your idea at symposium@msosortho.com.
